The first emblem of the Bulgarian National Union was created in 2000 by Boyan Rassate.

The abbreviation БНС (BNS) placed under the representative sign IYI initially meant Bulgarska Natsionalna Suprotiva (Bulgarian National Resistance). The idea of this emblem was to achieve unification of the then many but small, not united and, therefore, insignificant nationalistic groups. There was nothing more suitable for the purpose than the ancient Bulgarian sign IYI.
Making efforts for achieving this aim was ceased at the very beginning due to the impossibility of achieving it.
The shield was used by the organisation for 23 years and was changed by decision of the National Council in 2023.
Only the sign IYI, in this shape, is even now part of the emblem of KUBRAT YOUTH and Bulgarian National Union Humanitarian Corps.

The defense of the Organisation’s symbolism and preventing its use by other political organisations have always been a proportion of our cares.
At the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, in February 2022, a number of Russophile small groups and large parties began to use patriotic symbols.

This was done, on the one hand, to make us impersonal and forgotten as one of the many pieces of falsified information and, on the other, to attach the Bulgarian nationalism to the pro-Russian propaganda, hence, the misappropriations of our symbol started growing uncontrollably big.
This made us look quickly for a solution to this problem. The disgust of Moscow’s creatures for the Ukrainian nationalism gave us the clue as to the direction we should go in.

The new shield of the Bulgarian National Union has been created in harmony with the present-day tendencies in heraldry. This shield clearly distinguishes BNU from all the Russophile parties and organisations that present themselves as Bulgarian and patriotic.

Thus, in the new emblem, one of the most ancient Bulgarian symbols has been preserved and a new, aggressive vision has been provided for it.
Our predecessors used to place this sign on their victorious weapons, on fortress walls and on their protective amulets.
Today, the sign of our predecessors is on our banners and uniforms!
Thus would the gods give power to our forefathers; today they help us too!

To the new depiction of the old symbol, we have added the three letters signifying our party, which is the only expresser of the pure Bulgarian idea and of the only organised resistance against the erroneous liberal system and the threat of the slithering communism: B - N - U

KUBRAT YOUTH

The organisation for young people at the Bulgarian National Union is called KUBRAT YOUTH.
It has been named after Khan Kubrat – a Bulgarian ruler and the creator of Old Great Bulgaria. In the Name List of Bulgaria’s Khans, his name has been written as Kowrt and it means wolf. This is why at the base of the emblem of KUBRAT YOUTH, in addition to the unifying symbol IYI there is also a wolf’s head.
Together with them, against a green background, top right, an edited image of the figure 14 has been placed; the figure symbolises our clan and idea.
