On May 25, 2023, a film about the "liberation" of Mariupol was screened at the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia.
We were informed about the event and organized a protest to prevent it from taking place. Among us at the protest was Kliment Talev, the grandson of the renowned Bulgarian writer Dimitar Talev, along with his daughter Erika. Other citizens also joined the protest, including Russians living in Bulgaria who do not support Putin's war against Ukraine.
The hall was surrounded by police, and those who wanted to watch this propaganda garbage were allowed in one by one. No more than 20 Putin zombies attended the screening, including the caricature that is Gen. Shivikov.
Before the screening, Boyan Rasate and several of us attempted to enter the hall but were denied entry by security from the Russian Embassy, who were checking those entering.
As the film ended and people were leaving, Shivikov was met with jeers, spat on, and received a few kicks from the protesters.
